The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is providing public notification of projects identified for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the South Carolina roadway system as part of the Proposed 2020 Pavement Improvement Program. After the public comment period, the program will be included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
In accordance with the 10-year plan for rebuilding South Carolina’s roads, the Proposed 2020 Pavement Improvement Program includes the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the following road systems:
- Primary system - 245.07miles
- Federal-Aid Eligible Secondary system - 147.98 miles
- Non-Federal-Aid Eligible Secondary - 186.34 miles
The total Program consists of 561.39 miles of pavement improvements across the state.
Projects selected are consistent with State law (Act 114), which considers criteria such as pavement conditions, traffic, safety as well as engineering review for prioritization. Projects that support the agency’s strategic and 10 year plans are essential to its overall operations.
A summary of substantive comments will be made available to the Commission for consideration prior to including the project in a subsequent STIP revision.
